Offenburg University is through the faculty of business administration and industrial engineering closely connected with Universidad de Burgos and its “Facultad de Ciencias Económicas y Empresariales”. This partnership offers the possibility for graduates of our master studies to complete an appealing doctoral programme.
Universidad de Burgos was established as a spin-off of renowned Universidad de Valladolid, which already exists since the 14.century. Universidad de Burgos has 8500 students and is divided into different faculties. The “Facultad de Ciencias Económicas y Empresariales” consists of 70 docents, a wide circle of doctoral students and 1.200 students.
The town Burgos has 175.000 inhabitants and looks back on an impressive history as a successful economic centre in Northern Spain. Additionally, the location of Burgos at the Way of St. James to Santiago de Compostela has influenced the towns architecture. Burgos is a very green and vibrant town, whose inhabitants are rightly said to be very welcoming and open-minded.
The faculty Facultad de Ciencias Económicas y Empresariales has a great reputation in Spain for scientifically substantiated and demanding research in the field of business administration in several core areas such as Quantitative Methods und Sustainability Accounting.
The doctoral project should optimally be completed in fulltime, part-time is possible. A doctoral project in fulltime is typically finished after four years. In part-time, a duration of five years is initially intended and it can be extended at first for two years and then again for one year.
The mentoring is provided by professors at Universidad de Burgos and Offenburg University. The individual support is complemented by numerous, partly compulsory events like doctoral seminars, colloquia and by participation in conferences. The doctorate degree is formally awarded by Universidad de Burgos.
The graduation of the doctoral project is usually made by publications in renowned journals.
